10 Aug Back to School Basics
School is back in session and that means more miles on your vehicle. Whether you are driving your kids to school and activities or if you have a teen driving themselves, now is the time to stay on top of these basic maintenance items.
- Oil Change – Back to basics, the oil change is the most common and necessary part of routine maintenance. You should change your standard oil and filter every 3 months or 3,500 miles and you should change your synthetic oil every 6 months or 5,000 miles.
- Car Battery Check – Don’t get left stranded with a car that won’t start. A car battery has to be replaced every 3-5 years. Get your battery checked to make sure it is holding a charge.
- Coolant – Good fresh anti-freeze is the best way to keep your radiator happy. And if it has been a while and your fluid is dirty, a radiator flush treatment is always a good idea.
- Tire Pressure – Fluctuating late summer temperatures can lead to losing pressure in your tires. Keep an eye on your pressure monitors and keep your pressure topped off.
